Overview

The Nallamala Hills is bordered by two major rivers Krishna and Pennar. The enticing vista of rivers along with majestic hills looks like a beautiful painting. The landscapes of Nallamalais is unique with Deep Valleys, Gorges Grass lands and Forests and a best place for promoting conservation education to general public, Pilgrims and students. Nestled in the Nallamala Ranges of Eastern Ghats, the Nagarjunasagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR) is a repository of Biodiversity and an abode for endangered flora and fauna. The Largest Tiger Reserve in India with an area of 3727.82 Sqkms (Core and Buffer) spread over Prakasam, Kurnool and Guntur Districts of Andhra Pradesh. Most of the area is hilly terrain with plateaus, Ridges,Gorges and Deep valleys which support tropical mixed dry deciduous and moist deciduous forests with an under growth of bamboo and grass. Two Wildlife Santuraries namely Rajiv Gandhi Wildlife Santuary and Gundla Brahmeswaram Wildlife Sanctuary (GBM) constitutes the Tiger Reserve area.

Geologically the oldest river, Krishna forms the Northern most boundary of Tiger Reserve. Two multipurpose dams at Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar have been constructed on this river in the Tiger Reserve area limits. The famous ancient temple of Lord Mallikarjuna and his consort Goddess Bhramarambha is on the Srisailam plateau, being worshipped from time immemorial.

Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is considered one of largest dams built in the recent times in Asia. As the tallest masonry dam, Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is also the pride of India. A beautiful landscape and strikingly scenic water body adds beauty to the impressive structure. The dam derives its name from a nearby hillock and island called Nagarjunakonda, where an ancient Buddhist Guru had once lived. There is a famous and well-maintained museum here that houses ancient artifacts. Apart from the lake where regular boating facilities are provided, tourists can also visit other attractions such as Ethipothala waterfalls, and Srisailam Wildlife Reserve close by. The mighty flow when the crest gates are open presents a panoramic view which enthralls tourists.

Visit Kailasa kona, a waterfall with temple of Lord Shiva and Parvathi nearby. This waterfall is having a height of around 40 feet. Enjoy the pleasant morning.Proceed to Puligundu Rock, a dual rock mountain with a height of about 1000 feet from the ground. Interestingly, the hilltop resembles as Siva Lingam. It has a very narrow peak with thetemple of Puli Gunteswara at the basement. Enjoy the amazing Talakona waterfalls (Highest waterfall in Andhra Pradesh with 270 feet (82m). Talakona is also known for the Lord Siddheswara Swamy Temple, which is located close to the waterfall. Overnight stay

Check-out & Departure towards Penchalakona. Visit the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at the foot of Hill to the Penchalakona Valley. Proceed to the beautiful penchalakona waterfall just behind the temple. We need to walk 2km in the forest through water streams .This fall will be in full bloom during the monsoon season. Relax at Somasila reservoir and enjoy the views. Proceed to Bhairavakona, a holy place situated on the heart of Nallamala Hills. The temple is carved from a single stone, Eka sila. There is waterfall which falls from a height of 200 metres and there are eight temples carved in the hill there. Transfer to Hotel & Stay @Giddalur/ Kanigiri.

Early Morning Check-out & Departure towards nemali. Sri Nemaligundla Ranganayaka Swamy Temple is a famous temple located in the middle of the thick Nallamala forest and is known for its waterfalls called Rangaswamy Gundam or Nemaligundla Falls. This small pool later turned into a bigger pool in the shape of a Peacock. Hence, this place got the name of Nemaligundla,where "Nemali means Peacock" and "Gundla means Pool".Proceed towards Nagarjuna Sagar Reservoir (the tallest masonry dam in the world). Enjoy the view of Nagarjuna Sagar dam, Visit Nagarjunakonda, connected by a ferry to the mainland. The area is also known for panoramic views of the valley from a viewing area near the dam. Proceed to Anupu, a wonderful place to experience the ancient Buddhist culture of the region. Anupu is a site of Buddhist excavations reconstructed to perfection with extreme care and great effort by Archeological Survey of India. It is one of the best Nagarjuna Sagar tourist places. Proceed to Ethipothala Falls. Ethipothala Waterfall serves as another major attraction of the town. It is originally a popular mountain stream which falls from a height of nearly 21.3m into a lagoon. Check-out & Departure towards Narasaropet. Visit hill temple Kotappakonda Sri Trikoteswara Swami Temple. Trikuta Hills: Kotappa Konda hill appears with 3 peaks in any direction so it's also called as Trikutadri, Trikuta Parvatham. The three hills are Brahma hill, Vishnu hill and Rudra hill. These 3 hills can be distinctly seen from a distance from any direction. After Lunch Proceed towards kondaveedu fort, on a high ridge of a small range of hills with average elevation of 1,500 feet (460 m) (highest point on the ridge is 1,700 feet (520 m)). Proceed towards Guntur. Shopping @ Guntur.
